As the semester progresses, the students in Keating's class begin to flourish and find their own unique voice. Despite the challenges, Keating continues to inspire his students to take risks and pursue their passions, leading to a powerful and emotional climax.

The film is set in 1959 at the prestigious Welton Academy, a conservative and traditional boarding school in Vermont.
