Unlike comedic takes on the genre (e.g., ZA WARUDO in JoJo ), Gakuen de Jikan yo Tomare uses the mechanic for purely exploitative and psychological horror-adjacent purposes. The protagonist, often named Makimura or similar depending on the translation, acquires a pocket watch or ancient artifact that allows him to halt the flow of time.

However, a twist arrives: He is not the only one with the power. A mysterious transfer student (or a rival teacher) reveals they also possess a time-stopping artifact. The second half of the OVA becomes a "time-stopper vs. time-stopper" battle.
